Winter Break(up)

That time at the end of breaks when you realize you had all those grand plans and some of them you did but a lot of them you didn’t but it’s okay because you’ll be back soon to the people you’ve been away from as they were scattered like the snowflakes that fell all over your yard making it a white Christmas, swept across the country to the places they call home but swirling back in flurries we gather again into tiny rooms crammed with our possessions to adhere to new schedules of classes fresh notebooks and new highlighters bearing tales of winter velvet and fresh, tearing at our frostbitten bits at the thought of new memories and second halves like the remainder of the home-baked cookie you had to leave on the plate because you were in a rush to come back to school.
