Our foyer, Christmas 2009.

I love the feeling of when it snows out and the only major light you have on inside are the small candle lights glowing in the windows. And it’s warm and quiet and soft, except for the gentle jazzy christmas music echoing in the background. The house is shadowy and golden and the floors are warm, with counters cleared. Furniture has been rearranged to account for the occurrence of a tree. And the smell is something of its own, spiced and sweet, sugary and crisp like snow, and earthy evergreen.
